Need for Age Related Supplementation?

Updated on July 17, 2016 in Nutrition

I am 70 years old and concerned about the affects of aging on the increased need for nutritional supplements as we age.
I have read more than a few articles concerning the age related decline of organ systems and general physiology.  Example:  After age 20 our production of enzyme secretions from the Pancreas decline 13% per decade.  Therefore, at 70 yrs. old, my body is expected to be producing just 35% of what it had been producing since age 20.  That is why I have been taking both digestive and therapeutic enzyme supplements for nearly 20 years.  Dr. Edward Howell’s book, Enzyme Nutrition reports that no one ever dies of old age — they die of enzyme depletion — when your enzyme production drops to a critical level, you die. (my paraphrase).

My question:  #1 Should I be adjusting my intake of BrainMD Supplements upward to compensate for age related factors?
#2  Are there other supplements that I could be taking to compensate for the adverse effects of aging on my physiology?
#3  Can you recommend any books or articles that would help me to better control the adverse affects of age related decline?

Please advise.  Thank you. ICG

Thanks for being part of our community.  We developed Brain and Body Power Max to be our maximum formula that works very well with the aging brain.  If you haven’t read my book Change Your Brain, Change Your Life (2015) I would start with it.

I have not read your book yet, but I have been taking B & B Power Max, SAMe, NeuroLink, Serotonin Mood Support, ProBrainBiotics, Attention Support, Omni Protein, and Restful Sleep.  My questions are #1, #2, & #3 above.

I am throwing darts into the darkness here and would appreciate any illumination you can provide.  Thank you.  ICG

Look over your personalized brain type report. It makes suggestions specific to how your brain works and will prioritize which supplements may be most helpful to you. Good nutrition, exercise, sleep, plenty of water, and stress management are also key pieces.

I am asking for answers to my questions.  Is there some reason that you are avoiding responding to my direct questions?  Please advise.  Thank you. ICG

NO. WE PUT THE BEST DOSES IN BRAIN AND BODY POWER MAX.  MORE IS NOT NEEDED AS YOU AGE.

#2<a href=”http://portal.mybrainfitlife.com/new/forum/hashtag/2/”>  Are there other supplements that I could be taking to compensate for the adverse effects of aging on my physiology?

NO. I TRIED TO PUT EVERYTHING OUR BODY’S NEED.

#3<a href=”http://portal.mybrainfitlife.com/new/forum/hashtag/3/”>  Can you recommend any books or articles that would help me to better control the adverse affects of age related decline?

READ CHAPTER 19 IN MY REVISED BOOK, CHANGE YOUR BRAIN, CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Perfect!  You gave me exactly what I needed to know — for now.  Since I am not a patient as yet (hope that changes soon, as I am anticipating a windfall that will change my prospects of improving my quality of life on multiple levels) I was not sure that this would prevent you from providing advice on supplements — although my experience with other supplement companies is they will provide as much assistance and advice as they can according to their level of expertise.  I would like very much to have a consultation with Dr. Parris Kidd.  Does he open himself up to individual consultancy?
Thank you.  ICG

Question:  Your BrainMD Supplements may be everything you need . . . ?  For What?  Enzymes — are they a valid and beneficial means of supplementation?

The studies that Edward Howell conducted on dogs, cats, mice & rats proved that by feeding these lab subjects live food with just the natural enzymes they contain, the subjects lived 30% longer than if they were fed sterile (cooked above 120 degrees F) kibble.  It would seem to me to be worthwhile to take enzymes before a fully cooked meal — which I do.

In addition, some of us have bodies that are not capable of producing some types of enzymes in sufficient quantities to maintain properly functioning physiological processes in our bodies.  Thus, taking therapeutic enzymes (on an empty stomach) may be beneficial.  True or False?

Life Extension offers many supplements (not just vitamins) that they claim have been shown to maintain health and longevity for those of us who are out-living the function of our organ systems.  Question:  Scam or Valid strategy?

I have been taking some BrainMD supplements long enough to feel confident that they are proving to be a benefit to my cognitive and emotional processes.  But, at this point I do not know if I need to take additional BrainMD supplements or If I should be taking more of them (i.e. you recommend a range of between two to four caps/day — How do I know if I should be taking a higher dose of this supplement (NeuroLink).

I have had at least 10 incidents of substantial brain trauma over the last 70 years of my life.  Not including toxic exposures of who knows what!  As you say, It makes no sense to throw darts into a dark room.  In truth, it is a wonder that my brain works as well as it does.  But, I have a sense it could be better and stronger with the proper nutrition.  I would like to do whatever I can to become healthier and to stay healthy as long as I live.  After 70 years of failing to do all that I can do to properly support my personal health and well-being, I know that I need as much expert help as I can find.  Proper Self-Care seems to be the only viable option.

Thank you.  ICG

Dr. Kidd does not do consults, but if you ask me a specific question I will ask him to answer it.

At this point, I do not know enough to ask a useful question, but I would appreciate it if you would share my last post with Dr. Kidd — hopefully he will have a better informed perspective on my concerns.  Thank you.  ICG
