I haven’t been online for a while not for the want of doing so, the last several weeks have been very challenging, my husband has been able to keep his job which we are very fortunate however I stepped up my physical responsibilities in the home to make life easier on him for weekends also we have been caring for our older son’s dog, she is a bull mastiff & very strong & she is a very disobedient dog. Due to all the extra physical work I turned off my brain to all the physical pain I was in to the point it landed me in hospital over 2 different weekends, a MRI scan & unable to walk, they have found a cyst on my spine that is compressing the nerve to the left leg. I’ve had to buy aids for the toilet & bathroom as well as use a walking stick. I’ve also been waiting for results from the neurologist as well, I received good news however it doesn’t explain what is going on for me then the doctor turns the conversation around & asked me about my mental health & the stress I’ve been having – What the – I told him that I’ve been travelling very well with that side of my life & that the latest circumstances were naturally difficult however it prompted me to look at my medical history & I have tangible evidence over many years for health issues I still currently face so now more than ever I’m adamant to get to the bottom of my issues. No it hasn’t impacted on my mental health more then ever it has put a fire in my belly to stand up for myself & my needs. That makes me feel very proud of myself.

Good for you! It is empowering to be your own best advocate and keep seeking answers for the root cause of your health concerns. I do applaud your physician for at least asking about the impact of stress in your life, as sometimes that is grossly overlooked and can be a major player in chronic health concerns. I’m glad you feel a ‘fire in your belly’ to stand up for your needs. That is the kind of fire you want to stay aflame! Best to you! -Zoe
