What is Type 8 ADD

Hi All,
I took the assessment that was available online and it mentions Type 8. Everywhere I see references only about types 1 through 7. I tried the healing ADD as well and all mention only 7. I could not find much about Type 8 itself. What kind of supplements would help and what kind of food would help type 8? Thanks.

Hi Archana9: Thank you for being part of our community.  The typology on Brain Fit Life is different than the types in Healing ADD or my other books.  It is not based on a medical condition, such as ADD, anxiety or depression, but rather general tendencies in the brain.  Each type has its own features and my suggestions for help.  All types have positive aspects and challenges.  Hope that helps.

Help.  I have taken the webneuro test type 1, I have quit soft drinks and am eating healthyand still no change.  Depression is at it’s worst and is almost making me a zombie.  I have also stop the self medicating (marijuana) but this depression is so awful I don’t have the energy or will to do anything.  Tried different type of diet and supplements but I seem to to sink deeper and deeper into the depression.  Also have developed headaches with all this, they become worse when I meditate.  I have had several head injuries in my life.  Because of all this I have lost several jobs because of the self medicating and now I am really struggling.  I am really tired of it all and just want to heal my brain,  is there something else I can try.  I have been looking for so long and at my wits end.  What do I do next.

@wannabe I would personally start with the journal, that’s where I started and it helped me out significantly. I also began to follow Dr. Amen and his wife Tana on social media they give out good tips. Check them out and see what I mean.

Wannabe, have you tried exercise, too?  It works as well or better than Prozac.  Also, you can share what depresses you within this community, if you feel safe in doing so.

Wannabe,  Have you checked your Vit D levels.  I was in same situation.  Sad and crying all the time and when I got my base line numbers it was 14 and optimal is 90.  I started taking D3 as advised by Doc Amen.  Less carbs is important and NO sugar.  Sugar gives the brain a fog.  In my case I had an overactive brain on top it and GABA in powdered form worked wonders.  Seems like you a boost.  Consult the Docs/Coaches.  Good luck.

Depression is a complex issue, but sometimes there are simple answers when something like Vitamin D levels are markedly low so that’s a great idea to get checked out. I love the suggestions above of exercise (proven to work as well as some anti-depressants if done regularly), as well as a simple, whole foods diet with adequate water (usually helps headaches) as good starting points!

Journalling your symptoms and their severity can often illuminate the days you are feeling better or worse, which can then offer a good starting place for change if it is less than clear what is at the root. Along with all of these biological aids, you may consider counseling if your depression seems to be based on deeper issues of self-worth, value, meaning, and the like.

I have had my vit-d checked and it was low.  I had started a journal with how I felt and what I was taking but the drepression was got so bad I fell behind.  I have been to counseling and they did not do much to help the condition.  I have no self worth and feel alone and isolated but that is do to my depression.  I am currently unemployed, besides my postal job on the weekend,  I heard that being unemployed is a depression enhancer and have been looking for part time but no luck which also adds to my depression.  Also without money I can not by the supplements I need.  Plus like I said earlier that I have had several head injuries.  I am thinking of asking the VA if they can do a SPECT scan but around here it seems you can’t get one unless you have had a recent TBI, plus they make it sound that it is sort of risky to get one.  I will keep trying. I so much want to get a better brain but it is such a long haul up an almost endless hill.

Another thing that is helping me, is belonging to a church with some very caring people.  That combination of caring people and God’s truth is very powerful.  — On top of that, they pray for me!

Your suggestion of church sounds like good advice. I love Joel Osteen on Sundays.  I was brought up a Catholic without much connection to the people in the church because my dad used to take us and then split because he had a golf round. He was playing through!   My mother was Methodist and went to church by herself. That was when all kids had to be brought up Catholic in a mixed marriage.   Never knew she was in the Choir until High School!

Love the playing through metaphor.  When Tana and I did The Daniel Plan it made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people.  We are better (or worse) together.

I went to a church service years ago in La Jolla when we opened an office there and it was a beautiful church.  At my first service, when I looked around, I saw all these men dressed in white shoes with white belts and plaid pants and golf shirts.  Like around 50 of them scattered about.  I burst out laughing and had to leave the service it was so funny. I just could not stop laughing.  I built a golf course in northern California called the Dragon so I know golfers.   I told God looks most of the congregation is playing through today!  Looked like Easter with pink and yellow golf shirts.  Hilarious really.  Thanks for chatting.  Thanks for giving me my sense of humor back.  It has been years.
