Whether a vegan diet is healthy for you individually depends on many factors including digestive health, genetics, cultural norms, and access to foods. And while there are certainly many people around the world who eat a healthy vegan diet with plenty of benefits, there are specific nutrient deficiencies that are more common in this diet, including zinc (especially for children and pregnant women though true for everyone), omega-3 fatty acids, iron, and certain B-vitamins like B-12. I would encourage you to have your physician or clinical nutritionist regularly evaluate your nutrient status to make sure you are in an optimal range, and be sure to supplement when necessary.
If you are eating a variety of plant-based foods rich in fiber, healthy fats, adequate protein, AND your digestion/absorption is optimal, a vegan diet may be healthy for you, but supplementing is almost always necessary (as it is for most of us on some level). Best!
