The doctor has ordered mirapex and I am afraid to take it.

As a result of a sleep study I will be using a c-pap machine for mild sleep apnea and the doctor decided to treat me because my legs were moving a lot while I was sleeping. He said it is not rls. I am looking at the side affects and it looks eerily like the nightmare of my past revisiting me. I am not certain I am willing to try this mirapex. Is there something less mind altering I could try instead?

The nutrition guidelines here should be helpful, particularly the elimination of all processed foods, additives, and artificial sweeteners. Additionally, you may try Restful Sleep, which has magnesium (good for relaxing muscles). Make sure you are getting adequate exercise, and drinking plenty of filtered water as well. All of these things can potentially help with getting good sleep.

Thank you for answering. I had a reaction to the Restful Sleep supplement, so that won’t work. My legs were moving often in my sleep. It just wasn’t rls. I will have a c-pap machine in a week and a half or so. The doctor said because my legs were moving in my sleep I need that medicine. If the movements bother me once I am asleep I do not know it. I am taking Brain and Body Power, SAMe, Vitamin D3, and the Focus blend of vitamins and supplements. Also following the diet on the BWW and moving around much more than at the beginning, although exercise is still pretty hard for me. Finally got all my numbers in form Quest, and guess I need to speak with one of your doctors. Will be looking that number up when I get home. Would more magnesium be of help?

Great to hear you are doing so many healthy things for yourself! Magnesium could be helpful, but you may want to speak with a physician about your lab work before adding another supplement. I like taking it in a powdered form called ‘Calm’ just before bed. If you decide to try it, start with a teaspoon in water as it can loosen stools if you take too much.

Thank you. I will be speaking with a doctor at your clinic on the 9th. Maybe I should w a it until then. If it sounds right to him I will try out the Calm powder.
