Stress

Hi! What is the healthiest way to cope with stress that has accumulated from several life events over the last 6 months that is catching up with me now?  Sometimes I feel like I cant hardly breath my chest is so tight and I can’t deal with one more stressful thing from family and life.

Here are things that have helped me through a similar time, and one of the Coaches will probably have more.
(You have probably aleady done this if it’s as tough as it sounds.), Cry out to God and invite Him into your whole complex scenario.  Sometimes, God turns things around when we cannot see a way. Get others to pray for you, too, if you can.  (I will be one.)
Be open to viewing things differently.  (“Reframe.”)
Do the CalmBeat breathing exercise for about 20 minutes daily, or the best you can do as you work up to that, to give your body and mind a break. You could breathe in with thoughts of God’s powerful, healing love shining in, then release the breath along with tension or negative feelings.  — Let yourself forget everything, for at least those few minutes!
Get a little exercise, even if it’s only a minute of peddling an exercise bike like crazy, now and then, because it helps get rid of the stress hormones.  Walking is great, especially in a natural setting.
Do something fun, even if it’s watching Netflix by yourself.
Protect yourself from bad food, as much as you can (stand to).
Drink enough water.
When stressed, I take Magnesium Glycinate, B6, and GABA before bed.
Read about people who live successfully, despite difficulty (like Joni Eareckson Tada or Nick Vujicic).
So, that’s probably more than you wanted from a non-Coach, but we are a community, here, and at least you should know that people care (whether or not they are so bold as to write something).

I agree with Sally4th about breathing to calm  yourself- exercise, even a little bit helps you to center yourself and bring yourself out of your thinking patterns.  Sharing in this community is also helpful, and if you don’t have someone to talk to journalling your concerns can help

Love these ideas from the community. Intentionally calming activities like meditation, walking outside, and listening to calming music are helpful as well as things that can release some of that stress: exercise, laughter, socializing, and being creative (art, writing, collage, singing, dancing, etc.). Considering what has brought you relief from stress in the past can be indicative of what might help you now.

While we all need respite from stressful periods in our lives, we also need support to go through the stress in addition to distracting ourselves from it. That is where friends, family, community, a counselor (or journal as Brennie suggested) come in. The resources we need to be able to better tolerate stress (since it is inevitable) are in the every day activities of adequate sleep, good nutrition, exercise, supplements, etc. but also in having friends we can reach out to for support. Best to you! -Coach Zoe

I just started this today…wow, I am so grateful I found this site and can already see how it can help me through this journey back to health and wholeness.  Chantellel, how are you doing?  Has the suggestions helped?

on March 12, 2018

Hi MommaB!  Thanks for checking on me! Yes, ALL of the suggestions help even though Im still working through this. We have had a series of events that are bad luck and they just keep on coming.  I had turned my health completely around and it is hard to stick with this now but Im trying.  I need to try harder though!  By the way, your timing is very good!  I needed to reread this today!  Bless you in your journey and thanks again!  Good luck, MommaB!
