I recently had a spec done at the atl amen clinic. result was TBI in frontal lobe along with ADD from the TBI.

I have been exercising for years 6 days a week. I eat according to Dr. Amen’s plan and take the recommended supplements from the Atl amen clinic. the spec was done 2 months ago, and have started the Brain fit Life program. After 2 months, i am still dealing with issues of getting very angry with my family from time to time. I have committed everyday to eat right, use brain fit life, exercise, supplements, etc.. Do you have any other suggestions that would be of help to me. I have a great family and do not want to continue with this issue.

Often when we are physically injured, as in a TBI, we need multiple avenues of healing, including learning to manage strong emotions in a new way. In conjunction with the biological interventions you are doing (exercise, nutrition, supplements, etc.), I would encourage you to find some psycho-emotional support as well. While there are many ways to do this, you might seek out a mindfulness-based therapist, join a support group, or work with an art therapist who could give you an outlet for some of your anger/frustration and potentially lower the frequency or severity of your emotionality.  I hope that is helpful. -Zoe

Sure thing. Mindfulness therapy generally involves “feeling through” in the present moment instead of solely “talking about” your experience. Neuronal pathways are able to be ‘rewired’ when we involve emotional experience as well as thoughts in processing of our discomfort. You can find therapists in your area who may use mindfulness in practice at www.goodtherapy.org or psychologytoday.com.
