Start it as often as you need to do the right things.

Ok my question is, for the first 7 days. Just until I get over detox, can I just do two shakes a day with an easy fish in the oven with veggies for dinner. Then after the first 7 days, start Tana’s  meal plan?

Dr.  Amen,
I called your NY clinic to find out if you know of any doctors that you can recommend in Philadelphia. I really NEED a psychiatrist. I have depression, ADD, sever anxiety and I am over weight. Every psychiatrist that I have been to wants to put me on medication. Do you have anyone you can recommend in the Philadelphia area that will be supportive of your program and help me be successful. I am begging for your help. My husband says that I would be a terrific case study for you since I have not been “balanced” for as long as I can remember. Any help that you can give me would be a God send. I wish that I could have you as my doctor because everything that you say makes complete sense to me. I am just failing at changing how I think of food. You are AMAZING and I love you!

Hi Vicky:

I don’t know anyone in Philadelphia.  We have clinics in NYC and DC. I asked our clinics for any referrals and will let you know if they know someone.

Thank you Dr. Amen,
I am serious about this. I just need help because I am taking all of the supplements that you recommended but I am coming up short. I don’t know whether to increase them or not. My uncle recommended that I take apple cider vinegar with the mother. Does that help with sugar withdrawl?

Not sure it if will help.  Are you you taking Craving Control? It is my favorite supplement for sugar cravings, unless you are you tend to be overfocused.  Then I like Serotonin Mood Support.

im not sure since i never had a brain scan or anything done nor have I been to anyone of your clinics that you could probably rightly recommend medicines or supplementscto me knowing so little else about me though.

on November 27, 2016

Yes, it is ok to take Craving Control with those meds.

If you continue to have sugar cravings despite using Craving Control, which is amazingly helpful, you may want to consider using a probiotic regimen, as sugar cravings can be greatly exacerbated by an imbalance in gut flora. For more personalized help, you might  consider meeting with one of our nutrition coaches.

Have you heard of Dr. Kelly Brogan and her book, “A Mind of Your Own“?  She has some online videos that may interest you.

interesting discussion. i didn’t know probiotics which im going to be taking starting tomorrow can help with diminishing sugar cravings.    also i did take a look at the recipes of Tana Amen’s they do look many very yummy ive printed out several covering some breakfast, and dinners and salads that ill plan on using. Some do have ingredients that look harder to find but i chose things doable for me. i wonder what is veganaise is it vegetarian mayonaise? my dog actually has terrible diarhea she was on a lot of strong antibiotics i tried to feed her a probiotic while she was taking that medicine but now the vets recommend feeding her white rice and a little chicken.
i am obese which means i do need to change what i eat i know cause taking off the weight would help a lot . both sides of my family had people who had alzheimers and my incle and my sister has dibetes from having gestational diabetes i also have high cholesterol. so i do have very good resons to eat better. i guess eating any sugar or simple carbs is really for me playing with fire.I am thankful for being here and the help i can receive. julie

Just watched a TED talk by Dr. Doug Lisle on the sugar addiction subject.  It’s called “The Pleasure Trap.”  He has a couple of helpful suggestions.
