Hi, watching Dr. Amen’s videos, I heared him recommend a supplement called sam.e and I heared (somewhere, I am not sure where) that it is good for mood estabaiizing except with people with bipolar disorder, is that correct? People who have been diagnosed bipolar cannot take it?  Thanks for your reply.

Yes, that is correct. It is what most thoughtful doctors now recommend. It is a wonderful mood supporting supplement, but best avoided in people with bipolar disorder.

Thank you! And what can be taken instead?

Consider higher dose omega 3 fatty acids, shown to be helpful for moods and mood stability.

I noticed Sam-E as well. I’ve heard I have a basal ganglia problem and I get a lot of irritability, tension in my face and scalp, almost tic like. Then generate anxiety and phobia around that when in situations. I am already on everyday stress relief but haven’t noticed a difference. Would this help?

Thank you, I am new to it, so I need information.  I appreciate.

I would try GABA Calming before SAMe, but if that doesn’t help, then try SAMe.
