Retirement sucks

At age 68, I am attempting retirement.  Not because I choose to, but because I’ve spent a year of surgery and recovery of knee replacements.  That cost momentum in the non-profit I lead to lag. That resulted in sponsorship leaving and referrals lagging.  That brought on a bit of imposed retirement.  Right when I am getting my energy back and recovering, my platform is plastered.  Working to build a new expectation of life going forward with a new invention of reality.  Not a happy moment.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience here with this community. I think it is courageous to reach out while still in the ‘muck’ of disappointment, frustration, and grief.

I imagine many of us can share in your experience that life can sometimes force us to reinvent ourselves, just as we are settling into what we know, which can be exasperating and a bit (or very) scary. But during this disruption and grieving over what was, I hope you can hold hope (and we will hold it for you too) that you can also find new parts of yourself to explore and to share with others. We look forward to hearing what you find out there for yourself, Phil.
