Hello: I am new to the program and sent a question regarding family history and how it could play a part in Lewy Body Dementia. I was hoping to have a response – is there a reason it has not been addressed?
Thank you in advance.
On rare occasion, a post slips through the cracks, so apologies for that! Genetics play a role in our health, including in the possibility of dementia, but there are many, many things we can do to off set our chances of contracting a specific illness through the way that we take care of our health. The guidelines here, focusing on whole foods nutrition, quality sleep, adequate movement, games to keep our brains sharp, and stress management, all play equally important roles in how healthy our brains are long term. Hope that helps! -Coach Zoe
I appreciate the response but I was looking for an answer with the possible percentage of chance to get Lewy Body Dementia (which I understand is different from alzheimers and the other dementia’s. It was horrible for my Dad and for me as well. Dr. Amen will give statistics and really not much information was put out about Lewy Body Dementia and as I said in my first question my Dad was mis-diagnosed. With this said I appreciate the information you gave me but I already know all this from the years with my Dad doing research and of course from joining this website. I am looking for something more specific to the disease itself. Thanks Zoe I appreciate your time.
Lewy Body is often associated with Parkinson’s and does have some genetic history as well as exposure to toxins. Doing all the things on this site can be helpful.
