Please post here. I can’t be the only one needing to lose weight

I’m only a week into BrainFitLife but after much research, I think the program makes sense to keep my brain healthy.  However, I want to encourage others to use this forum of Weight Loss because I REALLY need help in this area.  I’ve been to 3 doctors and have had my blood work done 3 times looking for advice on losing the extra 25 lbs I gained after knee injury.   I’ve tried everything – even fasting. Now I eat protein and vegetables with no loss of an ounce. Each time my numbers come back, I’m told “There is no reason for the stubborn weight — my high cholesterol is fine and don’t worry about the high C-reactive protein either — that is just age”.  What???  This all led me to my own research and to BrainFitLife – which tells me these things are affecting my BRAIN!  Anyway, post your experiences with stubborn weight.  You never know who you might help along your own journey.

Thanks so much for posting, Ph! When weight seems to hang on for “no reason”, exploring our gut health can often lead us to shifts we didn’t think were possible. Make sure you are eating probiotic rich foods (ie: sauerkraut, kimchee) or taking a supplement regularly, as well as drinking plenty of filtered water. Depending on your personal health history and medication protocol,  it may also be helpful to explore a liver detoxification protocol with a nutritionist. Best to you! -Coach Zoe

I enjoyed the hypnosis for weight loss audio and now feel very relaxed…it is bedtime and I’m ready…do I listen to the above audio every day?  Is the idea to eliminate nervous eating?  I believe it will work well with me.  Thank you!!!

Yes, use it whenever you need to. Great to hear it’s been helpful! And yes, it can help with anxiety of various kinds, including emotional eating. -Coach Zoe

My weight has always been stubborn, until I stopped eating anything with gluten, and ate organic meat only. Anything with steroids in it shows up in swollen fingers and brain fog, immediatly it seems….so I don’t eat beef. even if it is organic, maybe mama cow was not organic and there still is a steroid affect on my weight loss.  Anyway, I lost 60# in 4 months, and my doctor could not believe I did not have something wrong and ran all sorts of tests.  After working with me for many years, with weight being a big issue. I shocked her at how good I felt with the weight gone….no fatigue and stable blood glucose, at around 100. Sadly, 2 orthopedic surgeries found me in an assisted living facility for 18 months and I gained most of my weight back.  Now, I am independent again and working on this progam for 6 weeks, I have lost about 20# with no gluten and no beef again in my diet.

Thank you! I keep trying to post back to you but it doesn’t seem to want to send. I’ll keep trying. You have gone through a lot. So glad you are moving forward again!! Thank you for info on beef. I know Dr. Amen discourages it but I didn’t get why. I will be leaving it out of my diet and see what happens. I’m already eating gluten free and hope I see results of that soon too. Keep up the good work!

Well, that is frustrating, I have to say that I feel fantastic eating the Braigrainn warrior way.  Sugar free, grain free etc. I have been ok still keeping beef in my diet, but I know you have to be flexible with weight loss & use what works for you.  I eat just a few carbs like berries and sweet potatoes.  I had one month where I lost nothing, but I started exercising and have started losing again.  It is very slow going but consistant.  I am down 26 pounds but most importantly, I feel fantastic and know that I will continue eating this way.  I also take the suggested vitamins for my type.  Good luck on all of your journeys.  Leanne

Hello Ph,
I to have had problems with weight for the past few years.  I just found out that I have too much yeast, and toxins in my blood.  So I have started a Candida diet, which is lots of veggies, probiotics, supplements as well as exercise (a little goes a long way) I also eat kimchi and sauerkraut, for some people its an acquired taste 🙂  I think what I enjoy most is experimenting with the foods I can eat, its fun.  Good luck

Hi Phil!   Thank you so much for touching my journey by posting here. I suggest asking yourself lots of questions, at least half about things other than diet and exercise. I’ve found that the most commonly overlooked factor when I’ve hit a weight loss rut is stress management and getting a minimum  7 hours of quality sleep.  Stay curious!

Thank you. I have to admit, I don’t relax much. No outside stress but I’m trying to figure out if I can identify inner stress. I’m trying meditation and I can only sit still about 20 seconds!

I am curious about the rest of your lifestyle and more importantly, if you only look at weight loss based off of the number on the scale. Perhaps i am the only one who thinks this way but when you look in the mirror do you by chance see that you have put more muscle on and perhaps lost some fat? This would not reflect in the number on the scale going down but in fact it may go up as muscle weighs more then fat.  I would kindly ask that perhaps you refocus your attention on body composition and not the number on the scale. As a side note i am not sure if you have looked around but i have noticed that as more people in this country lose weight, they become fatter as most of the weight they lost is muscle. I hope i didn’t come off as being harsh just wanted to give you food for thought.

on July 25, 2017

Thanks Big Mike.  Not harsh at all.  I agree with you. I happen to base my obesity on my fat percentage. I only talk pounds when that is what others do.  If I do the BMI or waist/hip or height ratios, even the mirror test, I’m not off the charts.  But fat percentage is 38%!.  This is for someone who trains and runs at least three 1/2 marathons a year and lift weights twice a week.  I’m told by nutritionists that I just do not convert food to muscle. Since starving myself is not an option, I am continually looking for answers and really need good feedback such as yours. Past answers I’ve received have helped cause this problem just as you said – “…noticed that as more people in this country lose weight, they become fatter as most of the weight they lost is muscle.” Yep.  Since answers are not coming fast enough, anxiety has become an issue which led me to this program. No positive results yet but I will give it a year.  I thank you for reminding me to keep the proper perspective.

I have been doing Bright Line Eating since October. It is not a diet, but a way to “rewire” and retrain your brain.  I have been dieting for over 60 years, done everything.  Bright Line Eating is the thing that has finally worked.  It’s very similar to the Brain Warriors food program, with only a slight variation. I do both together, as they are very compatible and complementary. You can get the book on Amazon.

I have been involved in Brainfit for about  5 months. I eat according to the Brain Warriors ideas, exercise, kill the Ants etc. I feel full of life, sleep better and have more vitality. I have also lost weight…not that I was planning to. I am now 5  9 and 133 pounds. People who see me now ask if I am sick because I am soooo thin. What can I do to gain some weight back without eating the unhealthy way i did before

Thanks for your question. Make sure you are eating adequate fats (5 servings per day) and protein, and to gain weight you can increase non-gluten containing complex carbohydrates (sweet potatoes, yams, beets, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, etc.) to 2 servings per day.

In addition, for absorption of nutrients you are consuming, be sure to take proven strains of probiotics (ours are great), and eat probiotic rich foods such as fermented vegetables (kimchi, sauerkraut). Hope that helps!
