Last year I lost 25 lbs on a low carb, low fat moderate protein diet. When I reached my goal wt. I started gaining it back because my sugar cravings kicked in  For the past 4 months I added clean healthy fats to my low carb moderate protein plan.I exercise and take Omega 3, Vit D, a probiotic and magnesium  I have not been able to lose the weight I gained plus my cholesterol  which was normal before went up to 220 with an HDL of 90   My ratio dropped from 2.7 to 2.4 though.  Any suggestions

Some areas to explore would be sleep, water intake, hormone levels, and stress. All can impact your ability to lose weight, and certainly sugar cravings. Additionally, you may explore food allergies, which can cause inflammation and weight retention no matter your best efforts otherwise. How are you in these areas?

I am generally not very concerned with Cholesterol in that range.  Read the Great Cholesterol Myth by Steven Sinatra and Jonny Bowden.  It will help you.  If concerned get a coronary calcium score and fractionate cholesterol into A and B particles.  I agree with Coach Zoe’s other suggestions.

I appreciate this discussion.  I’m not having significant weight loss after adding healthy changes for six months.

So glad to hear you are sticking with the healthy changes, despite a lack of weight loss. You may consider addressing this with one of our nutrition counselors to have a more personalized and in-depth analysis of what may be contributing to your lack of loss. And we always  encourage you to talk with your doctor about any underlying health conditions, or medications, that may be contributing to weight loss difficulty, such as hormone imbalances. I know it can be frustrating, but even without weight loss, you are doing very good things for your body and brain by keeping up with it! -Coach Zoe
