Misophonia?

I suffer misophonia (real ailment or not).  Certain sounds like chewing and footsteps drive me bonkers, eliciting irrational rage and irritability.  Anyone else?  I need immediate turn-around tips.  Additionally my childrens’ screeching and repetitive noise cause similar reactions.

I have heard of this a lot with my patients who have ADD or sensory integration issues. It is usually excessive activity in the sensory cortex (parietal lobes).  Sometime neurofeedback can help, or calming supplements such as GABA or magnesium.
