May I have some ideas about food?

Here is hoping that what I was writing didn’t post as it flashed off the screen. Can’t find it anywhere, so am beginning again. Please forgive me if I repeat my question.

Friday evening I am going in for an extended sleep study of some type. It ends somewhere between 2 and 4 Saturday afternoon. They asked me to take food for the time I will be there. Do you have any suggestions about what will work for that time period? They have a fridge and microwave there and it is possible I can take an ice chest to store cold items in. I need to leave very early Friday morning to get through several appointments in the day and then just go straight there without coming back home to the OC.

thank you for your thoughts.

So, you need about 2 days worth of food.  Hmmm.  You could bring a container of salad greens, some nuts, seeds, and some sort of healthy dressing, boiled eggs, avocado, hummus, veggies to dip in the hummus, almond butter, apple slices to dip in the almond butter, maybe some relatively healthy crackers (such as Mary’s Gone Crackers or even Nut-Thins).  You could bring a carton of chicken broth or even some relatively healthy packaged soup.  You could make your own chicken or other cold salad ahead of time.  Those are some ideas.  Hopefully, other people will have other ideas — or maybe you are already thinking of things, yourself.

Thank you for your ideas, Sally4tyh. Some of them will work for me. Your input got me thinking in a little different direction.

And yes I have been thinking, but the thought of carrying around a lot of perishables in a car for a whole day (5:30 am until the test at 8:30 pm) is a little daunting. Maybe I can find a store out near the test and buy a few fresh things there later in the day, as well. It will work out.

Love these suggestions. Having a fridge and microwave sure helps! Love the raw veggies and fruit suggestions with almond butter. You might also take along some raw nuts or seeds too. Leftovers from dinner before might be good too! Make extra veggie/chicken stir-fry and bring along. I also like baked veggies as left overs because they taste good cold or hot (brussel sprouts, asparagus, brocolli, etc.). Good luck!

Thank you Coach_Zoey! More good ideas! It is so nice to have others to bounce things off of – and hopefully to share with in the near future.
