Keep on Going – Never Give Up

I am imperfectly working this program – keep falling, but get backup – as Tana frequently says – I’m only failing if I choose to give up – and not get back up to give it another go.  I’m using Dr. Amen’s program at three levels
1)  I have membership in this BrainFitLife and had been using it mostly for the daily agenda and then every now and then venturing into other parts.  The games are okay – I’ve had problems getting them to work on my android tablet (it goes into some endless loops that uses up all my battery power last attempt).  But this weekend I discover that right with the filling out/checking off how I am doing – there is an assignment of one thing to do – and an inspirational quote.  Its now my goal to arrive early at work office with enough time to do this before I dive into the work of work.  The questions/forum area gets me to visit quite often – also I adore the meditations, guided imagery and the brain music.
2)  Daniel Plan – Dr. Amen is co-author of this amazing program on getting healthy God’s way – harnesses the five elements of faith, food, fitness, focus and friends.  I can see Dr. Amen’s input in all the chapters but the focuson brain health shows up in the FOCUS chapters mostly.  I lead a weekly study group – which seems to stay quite small – but so far myself and one other person always show up.  We have had as many as 10 come in and last week was just me and another of the regulars.  This community keeps me going.  It also forces me to study the material in depth – leading the discussion time means I must have reviewed it.  It is a good discipline for me – and I learn so much from the participants.
3) Brain Warrior Way – This weekly online class also keeps me on task – I had a death in the family two and a half weeks ago and got off schedule with attending the live class.  Well, truthfully – the live class starts right at the moment I get off work – so I’m going to catch up on the two weeks I’ve missed and then probably pick Saturdays to do the class from the videotaped sessions.  So helpful to listen to Tana and Dr. Amen share – I’m up to the yellow belt – sweating and learning.  It is a good class and you know, the discipline of having to do my homework before I can attend the next session is helpful to me.

I recommend all of these approaches strongly.  Also I am a big believer in the Brain and Body Supplement packs.  My money is so restricted still (hope to make more wise decision ot get me out of this situation!!) that I have to scrape by each time just to buy one month’s supply.  But if I don’t take it – people comment that I’m more moody or just not “shining” with my new energy.

All of this is a healthy priority for me.  Today’s assignement was to write a comment or question.  My comment summed up is just GREAT HELPFUL STUFF FROM THE AMENS!!!

God bless you for the good work you do – I’m feeling so much more hopeful and energized since I discovered and got active on these 3 fronts!

Sanediane I like your post- never give up! It is so important to keep going even if things are not working perfectly, I have been on this program for a while and still struggle with many aspects of brain health. Not being perfect is not an excuse to give up. Change is always possible and especially with the support of this programme.

I agree with Brennie124163, Never give up. I don’t see any big changes in my weight, BUT I do in my choices. Today I was asked what are you bringing to the Birthday celebration for a coworker. I read what everyone else is bringing and it wouldn’t be a good choice for me. So I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some veggies to make snack food. They will all eat the cupcakes and processed food. I chose not to.

I love all of these responses, especially “Not being perfect is not an excuse to give up!”  Also love planning ahead with parties. I do that as well. No other person is going to sabotage my program. It is a matter of self-love and discipline.

SaneDiane, at the end of your post, you mentioned having difficulty financially. I just found a website, that comes with a 34-day trial (no credit card info necessary) that I think will help Dr Amen change my life. Not being able to budget or deal responsibly with money has been a burden for my entire adult like. But I started working with this budgeting website and it’s amazing. I have a budget! and I just got started yesterday. The site is called You Need a Budget and I’m sending emails to all of my friends and family recommending it.

Thanks so much for sharing! You’re doing it–every day, bit by bit! Our life is a series of small choices that can add up to great things. Congrats on your journey!

Coach Zoe I like what you are saying about a series of small choices that can add up- something like baby steps. Even making one positive choice a day can be benficial.
