Gratitude Journal.

I have kept journals for years, but a year ago started a Gratitude Journal.  I write in it every day, and as I move through the day I feel invited to notice new things I am grateful for.  It is so much fun, and opens me to being more present in the present moment.  Such a fun thing to do, and brings me great and lasting joy.

Teedle, I do the same thing and really love the positive energy it provides, day by day…just remembering to be thankful!
SO good to hear from you.

Thank you, Chellenor.  I value your comment and am grateful for it:-).  It is a delight to be online again with BFL.  Wishing you all the best.

Journaling is such a powerful experience, and can often lead us to understand parts of ourselves that only come out after consistent time with a pen or keyboard. For those not inclined to write, you might try a drawing or collage journal to express emotion or get thoughts and feelings expressed and moving into another form. It can be truly mind and spirit altering!

One of my favorite exercises is “free writing” in which you pay no attention to punctuation, form, sentence structure, grammar, etc. There is no editing. You simply write whatever comes to mind. You can literally start by writing “I don’t know what to write” and go from there. It is incredible the material that comes from our depths when we give ourselves a platform for expression. If having no starting point is too daunting or loose, you can try looking at an object and describing it. I encourage you to try it if you haven’t. We can learn so much when we stop long enough to listen to ourselves.

keeping a journal can be cathartic, inspiring and educational…  I like to write out things that are making me angry or upset and get it on paper and then rip it all up( like in the visualization exercises from BFL)  this physical representation of things that bother you and the act of destroying or minimizing them is symbolically powerful.

I have an approach that I started at the beginning of the year. I write my gratitudes  every morning and then I write only positive thoughts. it is the latter which I believe has helped me the most. I write whatever positive thoughts come to me such as “the universe is providing me with everything I want and need” or ” I express energy, health and beauty” or ” I live with ease as I have everything I need.” these are only examples.

Taking in the good is a great brain exercise.  I love focusing on the positive as well.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
