Are there any flour products gluten free that are acceptable in brainfit? I know there is a paleo flour. Also, how similar is ketogenics to the brainfit diet?
The best options for brain healthy gluten free flours are coconut flour, almond meal, or flax meal. Avoid the gluten free flours that are simply variations of refined white starches such as white rice, tapioca starch, white potato flours, etc. Many gluten free products are made with these substitutes, so just be sure to read the ingredients.
The ketogenic diet is very low carbohydrate (typically between 30-50 g of total carbohydrates daily), and limits all carbohydrates- not just grains and sugars, but also fruits and many vegetables. The Brain Fit Life protocol encourages large amounts of vegetables and some low sugar fruits. Depending on your brain type, some sprouted grains and higher carbohydrate foods such as sweet potatoes, quinoa, and gluten free oats are also included.
