My executive function and self regulation skills just seem to be worse and worse. Is it possible to strengthen the actual weak area of the brain? External props like ‘make lists’ and ‘reduce clutter’ are not helpful in the long term.

Yes, it’s possible! In addition to the many lifestyle recommendations in your Brain Type Assessment, use the ‘Focus’ and ‘Memory’ Brain Games here for strengthening exercises.

Depending on the reason for this ‘weakening’, you might also seek out intentional relaxation exercises like mindfulness and meditation. If we are stressed or anxious, for example, it can make following through on tasks that much harder for some. If this is the case, you might try marking your day at the beginning and end with some sort of grounding activity like diaphragmatic breathing or guided imagery in the ‘Feel Better Fast’ audios as this can often make us more intentional in our actions, and that can indirectly help with focus.

Or, if on the other hand, you are exposed to a food or environmental toxin that is making you feel more foggy-brained such as a food allergy, or mold in your home, addressing that will be very important. So, for lasting improvement, the source of the ‘weakening’ is essential to consider in addition to interventions.

I have read about mold in houses. How exactly do you detect it? If detected, what is done to 

remediate it? Thanks!

Though expensive, there are mold assessment specialists you can hire locally who can recommend special cleaning companies if mold is found. This is probably the most thorough route to take but you can also get home testing kits from your local hardware store or order them online. Good luck!
