Dark tart red cherry juice

HI- I have heard this juice helps for sleeping and finally tried it. I do  think it helps a deeper sleep. I took about 1 oz. since it has so much sugar (none was added). I was concerned that the sugar would keep me awake. How much is recommended for better sleep and why does it work?

Tart cherry juice has an antioxidant called procyanidin B-2 that may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory and pro-sleep qualities. This juice may also increase tryptophan availability, and provide a source of melatonin, both of which can provide more restorative sleep benefits. The research I’ve seen on its use was 8 oz (that’s a lot!) 2x/day for benefit, but there are limited studies, so less may be as effective for some. To avoid too much sugar intake, you can also take a supplement that provides more concentrated benefit. Best!
