Covid and oximeter

I learned that oxygen levels drop to under 90 that it can indicate Covid infection.

Is it worthwhile to test onself with an oximeter for this awareness or knowing oxygen levels for other reasons?

The oximeter I have also rates pulse. Please give the positive and negative aspects of this self testing. Thanks!

Great question. I would ask your doctor for more information about what’s most appropriate for you, but it is my understanding that if you know your ‘normal’ heart rate and oxygen levels (oxygen levels in the upper 90s for most people in average elevation), you can monitor for changes that you may not notice due to the subtle onset of symptoms. This can encourage you to seek medical attention sooner than you might otherwise. I have one, and use it. As with monitoring devices, if it increases anxiety or stress in such a way that it outweighs the benefits, it may not be the best thing for you. 🙂
