Collagen for Joint Pain

I am 57. I started the Brain Warrior’s Diet about a month ago. I suffer from pain in my knees, shoulders, lower back and various other joints. Collagen Peptides was recommended to me by a friend. I have not heard anything about this product before. So, can anyone shed some light on the effectiveness of Collagen for joint and cartilage pain, or other remedies for those pains. (Aside from the general anti inflammatory diet in the BWD.)

NOTE: I could not figure out how to search this Community Board. Is there a way to search for key words. If not, I suggest that function to avoid duplicate questions and threads. Thank you!

You’re right about the general anti-inflammatory diet being an important element, and I would also add that any food allergies/sensitivities that you may have should also be avoided, even if what you’re sensitive to is an otherwise healthy food. In addition to avoiding sugars, dairy and gluten, some folks see a marked improvement in removing nightshades which include peppers, eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, cayenne, paprika, gooseberries, and goji berries. If these are common in your diet, you might try eliminating them for a few weeks and see if you notice any improvements.

In some research, collagen appears to reduce joint pain after several months of consistent supplementation. In those 50 years or older, it appears a combination of collagen with other joint-supporting substances seems to work better.

Here are a couple of research abstracts for more information:

Thank you! Are you including sweet potatoes under the category of potatoes?

No, luckily sweet potatoes are not in the nightshade family. Best!
