I have a friend who has this condition, and she had surgery.  It has <span style="color: #4b4f56; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15.36px; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: #f1f0f0;”>worsened with chronic pain in the head and neck. To the point, she can’t hold up her head. Mostly, she wants to know how people that have that surgery are handling the chronic pain; her choice was either<span style="color: #4b4f56; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15.36px; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: #f1f0f0;”> having the surgery and still live with the pain, or no surgery and pain…mostly being on medications. Any advice or information?

Have your friend check out the work of Scott Rosa, DC in upstate New York. He is doing interesting work trying to relieve pressure in the brain from these types of issues.

Thanks, Dr. Amen!  I’ll pass it on to her.

Hypnosis can help, as can biofeedback and meditation.  For structural issues like a Chiari Malformation check out my friend Scott Rosa’s work.  http://rosaclinic.com/scott-rosa/
