I am interested in knowing the best type of correction lenses after cataract surgery.Presently I am myopic. After cataract surgery you can get lenses to see distance or for reading or one for each eye.I have eliminated one for each eye since I think it confuses the brain, but is it best for my brain to stay with the myopic vision or is it ok to get the distance lenses and then need reading glasses? I am concerned about the effect on the brain by making changes that were established over many years. Thanks!

Hi there-

Sorry about not getting back to you about this! Dr. Amen says that as long as you can continue to read and engage in new learning, your brain will adapt to whatever is easier for you. So do what provides you the best functional benefit to keep your brain active.

Best!

Zoe
