Hi Zoe. When Dr Amen speaks about bio identical hormones is he referring to the compounded creams prescribed by a physician, or is he referring to creams available on the website without a rx?

Hi! Even though some can be bought over the counter, I think Dr. Amen would agree that one should always consult with a physician regarding hormone use. Ideally, a comprehensive hormone panel will be done prior to use to assess for appropriateness given your health history and goals. Lab work should also be done at regular intervals during use to make sure the supplements are providing benefit and so dosing can be adjusted when necessary.
