Anyone know anything about Lions Mane?

I’ve heard it can help with memory. It is a mushroom extract. Is it safe and can you take it for extended periods of time? Is it in any of Dr. Amen’s products?

There are benefits to eating many varieties of mushrooms. Lion’s Mane is one that has been studied in a few different countries, including the U.S. and has been found to be helpful in mild cognitive impairment and improving immune function. I do not know about the long term benefits or risks, but in one study I read, once research participants discontinued the supplement, the cognitive improvements declined to pre-supplement status. I think further study is necessary, and perhaps eating Lion’s Mane mushrooms as part of a healthy, whole foods diet, may be the best way to use them unless you are working with someone who has extensive knowledge about supplementing with concentrated forms.
