Any advise for vegetarians and people with seizures
Hi Lynn,
There is very solid evidence that a ketogenic diet can reduce seizures in a large percentage of individuals (check out PubMed for many studies). The idea with a ketogenic diet is eating under 50 grams of carbohydrates each day, and having fats (as ketones) as the primary source of fuel instead of glucose. You can do a ketogenic diet as a vegetarian. It just requires careful attendance to protein from sources other than beans/lentils as they are higher in carbohydrates. Vegetarian sources can include pea protein, nuts/seeds, dairy (if tolerated), hemp, and fermented soy (if tolerated). I hope that is helpful.
Best!
