I have a question about anxiety. I have noticed increasing anxiety especially after gong through menopause, I love your website, it has helped me so much with finding help to relieve my anxiety, and providing a wealth of information to research and understand whats going on. And just as Im feeling better, and thinking I have a hand on this , I start feeling a pressure like heaviness actually in my head…at least it feels that way…I think its a physical  result of anxiety…and when it come on I start worrying that Ill never get past this… my doctor thinks anti anxiety medication forever is the only solution…. but I don’t want to be on medication. Does anyone else feel this heaviness?

Thanks for reaching out, 4Dennis. Physical manifestations of anxiety can create their own additional layer of anxiety, so I appreciate the discussion on this. What have you tried so far for anxiety relief? Some of the big categories to explore if you haven’t already are nutrition (including avoiding food allergens), sleep, exercise, social support, counseling, meditation, and supplements like GABA. Avoiding known anxiety-promoters such as high stress, caffeine, sugar (and blood sugar imbalance), too many pressures, too much media, lack of sleep, etc. are also important to consider. What combination of supports may work best for you is individual, so keep seeking what that is for you, and if it’s medication, that can be an additional line of support, but doesn’t have to be the sole one. Best! -Coach Zoe
