Antidepressant

Hi,
I am currently on Zoloft and my ultimate goal is to get off the medication. To make a long story short, I had good success with Zoloft, then life challenges entered my life and Zoloft lost it’s power (anxiety attacks).  So, the psychiatrist I was seeing, took me off of Zoloft and we tried 5-6 other medications with no luck.  I switched psychiatrist and she put me back on Zoloft while weaning off of Paxil. She did not agree with the other psych’s method, but that’s history. Since, the reoccurrence of anxiety I have lost 45 pounds and have about 10 more to go.  I have started the brain warrior 14 day challenge and excited for the results.  What is your opinion that I am trying this with the help of the antidepressant? I know there are some supplements I don’t want to take because it boost serotonin and don’t want to mess with that. From where I was three years ago, is a big difference, I still have work to do, but I have learned a lot about how foods have an overall affect on Brain/Moods those foods were the main items of my daily food list.  Any insight would be helpful.  Thanks

We are in full support of you getting the help you need, in whatever form, to reach more optimal health. Medications can be an immensely helpful piece of the wellness puzzle. Our goal here is to make sure it is not the only piece used, as the other supports we can offer ourselves are equally important. These include good nutrition, the right supplements (you are right not to take Serotonin Mood Support with an anti-depressant), quality sleep, good hydration, social and emotional support, new learning, a sense of purpose, and exercise. When we create good habits around each of these, we are doing the best for ours long term health and, depending on the individual, the need for medication may lessen over time.

Thank you Coach Zoe~I will be reaching out to you.  Which of the supplements do you think I should take knowing I am on an antidepressant?  I did order the Brainbiotics already and take a multi-vitamin/mineral (eco-drink)

Look at your brain type report for specific recommendations of supplements. This can be found on the “Dashboard” page of this site. The general ones we recommend for most are probiotics, omega3, multivitamin, and vitamin D. The others are more specific to your particular needs. 🙂
