How do Brain Type and SPECT scans relate? and How do I know what type of depression showed on the SPECT scan?
Depression can show up in different ways in the SPECT scan based on what parts of the brain are impacted. For example, if you have reduced blood flow to the right temporal lobe, or increased blood flow to the thalamic system, depression can result in both cases, but for different reasons. Your evaluation with the physician should tell you all about your SPECT results and what part (or parts) of the brain is involved in any of your symptoms.
The Brain Types give you a general idea of what areas of your brain are working well, and which need some attention. This is assessed through the initial questionnaire you took on this site to get your report. The SPECT scans are of course much more detailed and can elucidate a more honed set of recommendations for you.
