Challenges with Lyme Disease, Neuroborreliosis

I wasn’t sure where to post this as challenges with Lyme disease (and co-infections) cover so many of the categories, this seemed to be the best fit in a general sense. I treated for Babesia and B. burgdorferi with an antimicrobial as well as several antibiotics for almost 2 years. I believe that the Babesia has been taken care of, but I still have many of the symptoms of Lyme disease. I am most concerned about CNS and neurological Lyme or neuroborreliosis because this is the most evident to me on a daily basis and what interferes with my livelihood the most. I also was also separately diagnosed with possible MS (no surprise and I don’t buy it), because of several brain lesions which showed up and are being watched, etc.

I stopped the antibiotics because I felt like I wasn’t progressing the way I wanted. I switched to mostly herbal treatments and supplements to boost immunity, go after the Lyme bacteria, and to give my body a rest. Plus I wanted to see how much I had improved from my baseline and figure out any next steps.

I came across Dr. Amen’s program and read “Change Your Brain Change Your Life”. It resonated with me a lot, plus he specifically mentions Lyme disease and other bacteria which was extremely encouraging. I can say that I felt better off the antibiotics, and that some symptoms subsided but had not cleared, and after a few months changed my brain type, all very positive.

This past week I ordered the Brain and Body Power and look forward to simplifying my daily regimen and hopefully optimize my brain health even further.

I have so many questions, particularly around what protocol is best for Lyme, realizing that this is an extremely individualized disease. What to take, what not, and in what combinations. Where to start. What others are doing or have done. What Dr. Amen has to say after seeing other Lyme patients.

I could go on, but I’ll stop here and see where this thread goes. Sorry for the long post.

Ken

Hi Ken-Thanks for your post. It sounds like it may be best to have a consultation with one of our physicians so all of your concerns can be adequately addressed. In the meantime, do your best to follow the protocols outlined on this site to support your brain and your body more optimally. Best to you-Coach Zoe

Hi Ken, I have Lyme, too, and I will be following your post to see what you find out. I am brand new to this site and all they have to offer.  I am not new to Lyme, however. My husband and I were both diagnosed 3 or 4 years ago – but we have had it for over 15 years without knowing. Our symptoms are very different from each other, of course, and we’re both different from yours. We have, however, found some things that seem to benefit us across the board and I’m willing to share anything I’ve learned or tried if you’re ever interested. But I agree with Zoe that starting with a doctor’s opinion is best.  Best wishes! Francie
