Can you make a recommendation for chewing gum and or breath mint that is appropriate for the Omni plan?

Sure! In moderation, Xyloburst or Spry are good ones as they are made with xylitol. đŸ™‚

Though it seems to have little or no impact on our blood sugar, xylitol is not a zero calorie sweetener. Watch for any digestive discomfort, such as loose stools or bloating, as this can occur if you have too much. Generally, I would stick to using it sparingly, like all sweeteners, to encourage appreciation of other flavors (like tart), so that you will be able to enjoy it more when you do have it.

I am a frequent gum chewer, sugarless.  Is there a problem with chewing gum?

Well, most sugarless gums are made with artificial sweeteners that are at best promoters of sugar cravings, and at worst, carcinogenic and inflammatory to our nervous systems (sucralose, aspartame, saccharin). Look for the Spry or Xyloburst which are made with xylitol, and use them sparingly so that you can begin to adjust your sweet taste buds for more natural sugars, like those in vegetables and fruits.
