Supplements that help with anxiety.

What supplements can I take to help with anxiety? I exercise and eat healthy and try and stay positive but sometimes no matter what my anxiety affects me. Either paralyzing me by not being able to do the things i want like creating music or reading. Sometimes my anxiety is so bad I can’t eat because my stomach hurts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Your program has opened my mind to new avenues and it’s comforting to hear things I’ve thought to improve my mental health. Cheers – Justin W.

What’s your Brain Type? I generally like GABA Calming, Everyday Stress Relief, and Serotonin Mood Support.

As there are so many facets to anxiety, including physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects, you might consider meeting with one of our counselors if you continue to have symptoms that do not dissipate with nutrition, exercise, and supplements. In the meantime, during acute anxiety you might try diaphragmatic breathing to calm the body and mind.

I’ve had bad anxiety since I was 18 when my mom committed suicide. I used to have panic attacks and I couldn’t work for a whole year at one point. I’m 31 now and I’m able to manage my anxiety. It’s extremely difficult at times. Luckily I’m able to sleep. Although my biggest problems are eating and leaving the house ( mainly for work ). I possibly think agoraphobia is a factor possibly. Although I’m completely fine in large groups of people. But leaving the house still really makes me anxious. I’m really healthy now with my lifestyle as well. I have never seen any body. This is why my family bought me this package from WETA for Dr. Amen. It’s nice to have guidance from professionals for once. One step at a time with this jus like the other aspects of my life. That’s how i manage my anxiety. One thing at a time. I do breathing but as we all know this society has limited time. I’ve come to the conclusion that my anxiety is so bad that it’s very hard for me to keep up with the hustle and bustle of society. Although I live in society so therefore I must adjust to it, like we all do. I’m starting to feel ( and after watching the DVD’s ) that I just be missing some chemicals in my brain. I find it odd that I’m completely aware of my issues and even in the moment I can be self aware of how I feel in every way…. but even then I still feel sick to my stomach, or it was so bad a year ago I was throwing up after and during when I was eating. I had to center myself with breathing and then I started reading a lot of philosophy to calm myself. Thank you for coming into this thread Miss Zoe.

You are doing so many wonderful things to support yourself, so I really applaud your efforts. Anxiety can be complex, and lonely at times. I would encourage you to seek out some additional support from us if possible, either at the clinic as Dr. Amen suggested, or via phone or video if leaving the house is too difficult. Having a safe space to get emotional support can be incredibly powerful in addition to the nutrition and supplemental interventions you are already doing. Best to you.

Thank you for sharing.  We have a wonderful Clinic in Reston, VA that could also help.  For Brain Type 9 I often recommend Serotonin Mood Support and GABA Calming to help support calm the anxiety.
