Interrupted Sleep

What does Dr Amen suggest for nights with several unavoidable interruptions–(in my case to do in-home caregiving)–where sleep does not add up to 7-8 hours–or even 6? I do not have nor can afford helpers. I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem (eg, parents of newborns, folks with urgent bladder issues, and the like).

This sounds hard.  Do the best you can. I like melatonin and magnesium to support sleep, also the hypnosis audios on this site.

Thank you and bless you! I will try the audios. Already take magnesium. A 1 mg dose of melatonin knocks me on my backside though and I have trouble waking up in middle of the night if I need to, alas. Probably a primo suggestion for many other folks. Btw, I love the Kirtan Kriya and loving kindness meditations, what a wonderful idea to offer them on this site! ❤️

cffaddis, my heart goes out to you!  Do you have any help during the day?

on July 30, 2016

Yes, Sally, and thanks for your kindness. Consider yourself hugged!

Aww, thanks!  And the same to you, cffaddis! —  It’s just that I was in that situation until last December, when my son moved into a home that he shares with a young woman.  They have around-the-clock, AWAKE STAFF.  I see him every day and we enjoy our time together.  (Today we went to a party.)  It was a tough decision and has been a tough adjustment, but my brain health has improved. I intend to remain involved in his life, longer and in better shape than I otherwise might have been.
