Candida and sleep

i was diagnosed with Candida over 6 years ago by a naturopathic doctor.  The regular MD’s has misdiagnosed me.  I learned that Candida is brain stimulating and causes insomnia, which I had struggled with for years.  I stopped eating sugar and gluten and most carbs.  I only eat organic veggies, organic walnuts and Brazil nuts, grass-fed and grass-finished meat, and no farm fish.  I started taking probiotics which seemed to make the Candida go away.  Then I decided to slowly add back in low quantities of low glycemic fruits, and gluten-free bread that I made.  That was fine for awhile, and then the Candida exploded again and my sleep was disrupted.  So I eliminated fruits and gluten-free bread and increased the probiotics.  Seems to be helping a little, but I am still struggling with sleep and that concerns me deeply.  I meditate every day, and I do deep breathing to keep my cortisol levels down, but sleep is still a problem.  I am sharing this because community is such a gift and a blessing and I welcome your comments.

Thanks for sharing your journey, Teedle. Sleep can be a complicated issue, and it sounds like you have reached some important conclusions about the effect candidiasis has for you, and are doing a lot of things to take good care of yourself, which is wonderful.

Since sleep is still concerning you, it may be time to look at other areas such as hormone imbalances, low physical activity, or emotional distress, just to name a few. Sleep can be impacted by many things, so I encourage you to keep seeking out additional areas that may be affecting it. Perhaps ask your doctor about getting a comprehensive hormone panel, make sure you are moving enough every day, and consider counseling if you need some emotional or psychological support.

Hope these suggestions help. Take care!

Thank you, Coach Zoe.  I do exercise most days, and my emotions are doing fine.  I am really drawn to your suggestion to have a comprehensive hormone panel, and will do so.  I do use Dr. Norm Shealy’s Eugesterone every day, but that may not be helping.
